Something new...
Every once in a while, I'll put up a new mini-editorial based on issues near and dear to me, or maybe current events. I've also revamped the page a bit so it isn't so scattered. This is my soapbox on the net. It may not be much, but you use what you have. This page focuses on the "subjective sciences" of politics and religious belief, or lack thereof. It is heavily laced with my own opinion. No, this isn't the work of some moon-bat left-wing atheist liberal, but that of a right wing, conservative/libertarian atheist. Yes, you red that right a right-wing atheist. So, lets begin....
Entitlement and Rights

Ah, the healthcare debate. You do have a right to life. However, that includes being responsible for the maintenance of it yourself. It is just that simple. You want a place to live? Clothes to wear? Medical care? You are a free agent. You are free to earn the means to obtain those things. It is your responsibility. Do not expect your neighbor, me, or anyone else to carry you if you feel that it is not your responsibility. And what about all this talk of insurance for healthcare, and especially pre-existing conditions?
Let's overlook for a second the supposed wrongs of the insurance companies, and look at how bastardized the concept of health insurance has become. When you expect your health insurance to pay for routine things, such as checkups, then it is not insurance. Would you expect your home insurance to pay for routine maintenance items in your home, such as furnace filters, painting, trimming plants off of walls, keeping drains clear, etc? Of course not! That is your responsibility, and is to be factored in with the costs associated with home ownership. Why would you expect your health insurance to do the same? I have heard some say that insurance paying for such routine work is like warranty work when you get a car, but it really doesn't work that way. People are strictly "as is", and much like taking out full coverage insurance on a used car, the insurer may require an inspection or exam to asses condition to determine the premium. So really, when people want insurance to pay for routine work, what they are really saying is "I expect you to pay for this, not me." And so that brings up another point: it is health insurance, not a health payment plan. If you want a health payment plan, I am sure there are lenders willing to work with you if your credit is good. Even many hospitals will allow you to make payments in installments, without interest often.
A final comment on healthcare is the entitlement issue. "I'm entitled to health care!" Everyone has a right to life. And everyone has the right to trade a portion of their life for compensation (ie, work.) But, you, with your "entitled right to healthcare" comes along and demands work from a person for nothing. You feel you are entitled to a doctor's, or nurse's time, as though the compensation for these people's time comes from thin air. How much of their time are you entitled to? How much of their lives do you feel that you are entitled to? The simple answer is you are not. You are not entitled to someone else's life. (only one condition in our legal system exists when you are entitled to a portion of another person's life, and that is when you are on trial by a jury of your peers. You are entitled to legal council in jury trials. That is it.)
Remember, you do have a right to life, but its your responsibility to preserve it. Let's hope that Obamacare get repealed, and that the Republicans can address the legitimate issues before us.

A scene from Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
German refugee convinces his English friend that a war against the Nazis is a different kind of war. Seems relevant today, just replace Nazi with Islamic Terrorist.
Scene from 49th Parallel
Nazis in Canada off a sunken U-boat at a German Hutterite settlement. Obama/Reid/Pelosi socialism produces the same kind of fervor in people that Nazi socialism did.
Another great scene from Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.
Best quotes from this scene describing the scene in 1930's Germany "...Money lost its value, the price of everything rose, except of human beings...that crime was increasing, honest citizens were having a hard job putting the gangsters in jail... In Germany, the Gangsters finally succeeded in putting the honest citizens in jail." To me, this sounds like the radical left's blueprint of the US, Acorn, extremist groups, Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Chicago-style gangster politics, creating unrest in the social classes and devaluing American currency, devaluing human life with socialized health care and death panels. This is today, let's wake up
